"Stop 49" Spokespeople: The Jossys True Development Plans

The Jossy Family Has Filed Seven Measure 37 Claims
Orchardviewestatesthumb The Jossys have filed two Measure 37 claims for a 30-house subdivision on farmland, plus several additional claims to build 7 more houses. If the Jossy's don't get approval to build their subdivision, they are demanding $5 million from taxpayers in compensation.  None of their subdivision plans were permitted before Measure 37 passed in 2004.

Two of their claims have been approved, and the Jossy's have submitted plans to build “Sunset Orchard Estate”, a 23-home subdivision, with access to an airstrip through the middle, on their farmland in Washington County.

The Jossys Want You to Vote No on Measure 49

The Jossy's appear in mail, television and radio ads for the "Stop 49" campaign.  They claim that Measure 49 will "shut down their family u-pick business". The Jossy's acknowledge that they can already build up to 13 houses on their property under current zoning laws, but they would not be allowed to build 30 houses under Measure 49. Their assertion is that by not allowing them to build as many houses as they wish on their property, Measure 49 will cause the Jossy's to "shut down their family u-pick business".
