The Truth About "No On 49" Spokeperson Olivella Wilcox
Olivella Wilcox filed a Measure 37 claim to build up to 16 new dwellings on her 8.32 acre property - which is
designated Rural Residential Farm Forest (RRFF-5) - in Clackamas County. Olivella Wilcox demanded $500,000 to $1,050,000 in compensation.
Olivella Wilcox is yet another "No On 49" spokesperson who is either confused about the law or deliberately distorting the facts. The No campaign is distributing a brochure that quotes her stating, “If Measure 49 passes we will lose all our rights – not only our rights, but our children’s and grandchildren's.”
Under Measure 49 Olivella will be able to build up to three houses (she wants 16 homes, on just 8.32 acres of designated farmland). Measure 49 will also expand the rights of her children, not diminish them. Under the current Measure 37, her children and grandchildren would have to reapply for building permission, but under Measure 49, those building rights are automatically passed down through the generations. Measure 49 was created specifically to offer stability to families through multiple generations- it works to preserve the Wilcoxs' rights whereas Measure 37 fails to do so.
