Gerald and Roberta Curry - "Stop 49" Spokespeople and Subdivision Developers

Currymeasure49_2 Roberta and Gerald Curry claim in their Voter's Pamphlet statement supporting the No on 49 campaign that they simply want to divide their land so they can give a parcel to each of their 5 children.

The truth is that the Currys have filed a Measure 37 claim to divide their 110 acres into 110 separate parcels! They're looking to build 110 houses, each on one-acre lots...it makes you question how many children they really have.

By filing for a Measure 37 claim, the Currys not only forced the County to waive forest and farmland protections against subdivisions, which were in place before Measure 37 passed in 2004, but they also filed a lawsuit to require the state to make their development rights transferable.  Measure 49 will not allow the Currys to build this 110-house subdivision on protected farm and forest land, but it will allow them to build a couple of houses, no questions asked.  In addition, Measure 49 will automatically allow the Currys to transfer their development rights to their children.
